There are some things you never forget in cycling. That first HC climb you did. Your first race. Getting dropped on a hard ride. Hitting 50mph on a descent. Experiences get burned in our memories for various reasons, but typically we remember things in proportion to how they impacted us.
I will never forget the first ride in
shoes. I'd owned carbon soled shoes and ridden thousands of miles in them. I'd had custom molded shoes too and they were great. But when I took that first pedal stroke in a parking lot right before a group ride I frequented, I was hooked.
I simply could not believe it. I was standing there, clipped in chatting with folks. We got rolling and I stood up and took a half stroke to get moving and my mouth literally opened. It felt like my heel and toe were a single unit. Zero movement. No flex. I didn't think carbon could vary in stiffness. If a sole was carbon it would be just as stiff as the next carbon shoe. This is not true.
I now use
for my off road purposes. I've raced them, spent entire days in them on epic rides, climbed, sprinted, descended and hammered. They have continued to be exceptional. The power transfer and comfort is simply astonishing; you really just have to wear it to believe it.
I ride in Mavic Fury's because I am amazed a shoe can be this good.
