When I'm out riding, variety keeps me going. There are a ton of different types of bars, gels and supplements out there to use, and a lot of them are fantastic. I actually like Infinit and PowerGel for most things that I do. But every once in a while having something more solid to chew on and digest makes the body happy, and more importantly, helps you get through those tough workouts.
On the flip side though, bars can be tough to get down when you're deep into a long ride. They're heavy, and often times having something be appetizing is as important as its nutritional value; or else, you won't eat it! Thankfully, a friend turned me to Honey Stinger Waffles to try and wow, do they hit the spot!
These suckers have a great flavor (lots of varieties too), with a nice consistency without being heavy. They're easy to get down even if you're breathing heavy, as they can be torn into small pieces. With a few more calories than your typical gel, they make a perfect snack mid ride. I've always got one in my pocket for a ride regardless of how far or hard my planned workout will be. They're just that good.
